repeatedly.

Eventually transition.

I stared at it.

Then I found an email from Richard to David.

It was dated two weeks before the bedroom incident.

The message said they needed to create “a reason for the family to reconsider the current arrangement.”

I read it again.

My hands went cold.

Grace saw my expression.

“What happened?”

I couldn't answer immediately.

The bedroom had not been the beginning.

It had been a move.

A deliberate move.

They had wanted us to reconsider living arrangements.

And the easiest way to start that process was to make my daughter uncomfortable enough to leave.

I forwarded the email to Dana.

Her reply came quickly.

Do not confront them yet.

I looked at the screen.

For once, I followed instructions.

I locked the files.

Then I looked at Grace.

“Your grandparents didn't just make a terrible decision.”

“What did they do?”

“They made a plan.”

Grace swallowed.

“About us?”

“About this house.”

She nodded slowly.

Then she asked the question I had been avoiding.

“Are we safe?”

I reached for her hand.

“Yes.”

This time, I meant it.

But I also knew the next step would be harder.

Because the people who had tried to take control of our home were not strangers.

They were family.

And family knew exactly where to apply pressure.

Click here to continue reading: PART 6: The Emails Proved the Bedroom Was Never the Real Issue, but One Message
